NEW ASICS SUPERBLAST 3 (2026) : FIRST LOOK ON DESIGN & CHANGES

As ASICS finalises the last colour releases of the incredibly popular SUPER BLAST 2 and with the release of the ASICS MEGA BLAST & SONIC BLAST, we now look ahead to whats in store for the Japanese footwear giant, with the SUPER BLAST 3 expected to release on March 26th 2026.

What we know about the SUPERBLAST 3

ASICS SUPER BLAST 3 design & release colorways

3 RELEASE COLORS

The SUPER BLAST 3 will launch in 3 colour ways. The two brightest options, a blue and faded orange color, both will featuring a faded gradient midsole, paying homage to the original Paris color released in the outgoing Superblast 2.

The third is a more subtle white and black-lines color.

STACK HEIGHT BIGGER THAN EVER

One immediate difference in design is the stack height looking exceptionally higher than the outgoing SUPER BLAST 2, which is a tell tale sign that ASICS is looking to improve the cushion setup of the SUPER BLAST 3 especially in longer distance uses. The stack height almost reminds us of the Gel-Nimbus series.

Updated midsole & Weight changes

FF LEAP - UPPER MIDSOLE CHANGES

The SUPER BLAST 3 will come with changes to the Upper Midsole. The Lower midsole will remain the same FF Blast+. The Upper however will be updated from the ASICS’s FF Turbo+ to their newest advanced foam, FF Leap. FF Leap is a lighter, softer A-TPU foam with higher energy return. FF Leap is also featured in ASICS newest release hyper race day shoe, the Meta Speed Ray, with reviewers praising it to be the pinnacle of energy return, increasing strides while conserving energy on each step.

We anticipate these changes to also be reflected in the SUPER BLAST 3. Expect longer runs to feel less fatiguing on the legs, making the SUPERBLAST 3 an even more exceptional Super Trainer.

STACK HEIGHT INCREASE, WEIGHT DECREASE

The SUPER BLAST series has always been known for its higher stack height. Based off the first release leak images, it is no surprise the SUPER BLAST 3 will also sport a higher heel stack height of 46.5mm, an increase to the SUPER BLAST 2’s 45mm. The forefoot stack will also be higher, increasing from 37mm to 38.5mm.

This makes the SUPER BLAST 3 considerably taller than competitor Super Trainers:

  • Adidas Evo SL - Forefoot: 32mm, Heel: 38.5mm

  • Hoka Mach 6 - Forefoot: 32mm, Heel: 37mm

  • Nike Zoom Fly 6 - Forefoot: 32mm, Heel: 40mm

The SUPERBLAST 3 will be lighter - coming in at 239grams (8.5oz) compared to the previous 249grams (8.8oz). This is as expected as the update to FF Leap in the midsole makes the shoe considerably lighter. This is something we are excited for as the SUPERBLAST 2 was already considerably lightweight, yet a 10grams lighter should offer a noticeable difference especially in tempo training and longer runs.

OUTSOLE AND DROP HEIGHT WILL REMAIN THE SAME

The Drop Height will remain the same 8mm with the same ASICSGRIP outer sole material.

SUMMARY OF CHANGES

The SUPER BLAST 3 looks to be ASICS’s best one yet, filled with thoughtful upgrades which showcases ASICS’s latest innovation and footwear tech without steering far from the classic Super blast DNA.

The SUPER BLAST has always been a highly regarded super trainer and it looks like the upcoming SUPER BLAST 3 will hold the expectations.
If you are in desperate need of an upgrade to your SUPER BLAST 2 and can’t wait for March 2026, we highly recommend you to try out the newest ASICS MEGA BLAST.
